Priya Bandhu,
Saprema Sri Gurusmaranam !
Param Poojya Gurudev is known for HIS love and compassion for children, particularly the needy. Other institutions engaged in the activities of child welfare approach HIM for help and blessings. Recently, some organisations engaged in rehabilitation and education of children who were earlier forced into child labour, sent seventy such children and ten staff members to Siddha Loka. After having a round of the premises and surroundings of Siddha loka, they spent some time with Param Poojya Sri Gurudev. HE was requested to speak some words of advice to the staff and students. Sri Gurudev told the students in a loving manner:
" Yours is the age to acquire knowledge and gain capabilities and not sell yourself away for paltry sums of money. Instead of remaining a servant and bowing to others, you must aspire to become a master and give employment to five or ten others."
On the 6th of June, Param Poojya Gurudev visited the Primary School of Hosur village that has been adopted by the Siddha Yoga Dham. A board notifying adoption of the school by the Dham was fixed there in HIS presence and school uniforms for the students, prepared by Siddha Yoga Dham, were distributed. All the students were very happy as they received their dress from the lotus hands of Param Poojya Swamiji.
Like every year, a programme on Environment awareness was arranged on Sri Guru Poornima Day- 5th July. A Debate competition was organised for students of VIII, IX and X classes, on the subject: " Whether modern scientific progress can protect the Environment". Param Poojya Sri Gurudev, encouraged the students and clarified the rules for the participants. Interesting arguments were put forth in favour and against the motion. Lunch was served thereafter for the children and prizes were distributed to the winners.
On the occasion of Bhagwan Nityananda Punyatithi, 'Bal-Bhojan' was organised on 18th July. More than 200 children of the Primary School and Shishu Viharas of three adjoining villages gathered. At 10 am, bhajans and keertans were recited in praise of Bhagwan Nityananda. All the children and their teachers were served meals as 'Prasad'. After this, every child received stationery items and dakshina in cash from the lotus hands of Param Poojya Sri Gurudev.
A conference was arranged in Bangalore on 23rd July 2001 to discuss the 'Role of Saints and Heads of Mutts in leading the Society in present social conditions'. Addressing the august assembly, Param Poojya Sri Gurudev very clearly stated that " Young people of the organisations engaged in social welfare activities must reach the needy people of all sections of society to ascertain and provide for their needs. It will be improper to expect this from Saints and Sanyasis. Those religious heads who have enormous funds at their disposal have to come forward to provide financial assistance to the small organisations. This will enable the workers of these organisations to extend basic facilities to the weaker members of society and fulfill their needs of food, clothing and shelter. Spiritual guidance is already being given by the Saints in full measure to seekers, to enable them to attain peace and supreme bliss." All those present in the conference agreed with HIS views.
Param Poojya Sri Gurudev was invited to a social function at Magadi on 5th August on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. The residents of Babu Jagjivan Ram Nagar exchanged Rakhis keeping aside their caste, creed and social status in the divine presence of Param Poojya Swamiji.
On August 15th, Param Poojya Sri Gurudev was invited as the Chief Guest for a Cultural Variety programme by the students and staff of the Primary School at Hosur village. HE liked the songs, mono-actings and playlets.
On the same day (15th Aug) here at Siddhaloka, on the occasion of Divya-Deeksha Din, students of VI and VII classes participated in a short Cross-Country race. Separate events were conducted for boys as well as girls. The winners received their prizes from Param Poojya Sri Gurudev. This programme was arranged at the express request of the local students.
Readers may kindly note the new Telephone number of Siddha loka: 080-7748016.
